RV Fence Options
RV Fence Options
We took a little trip to ACE Hardware and purchased a few items to create a make-shift fence to give our dogs some yard space. It’s pretty convenient to be able to open the door and let our dogs run into the yard to do their “business” when it’s an inconvenient time to take them for a walk. The fence is also large enough to let them run freely and burn off some of energy.
At first we weren’t sure if we were going to take the fence on our journey through the USA, but it has proven to be a convenient option for us.
It takes 5-10 minutes to roll the fence up (I leave the fence posts in the fence for convenient installation at the next site), and about 20 minutes to install the fence at at a new location. Most of the set up time is installing the smaller fence under the rv to keep our furry friends from escaping under the rig.
Items We Used For Our RV Fence
Below is a list of items that we used to create or RV Fence. We picked up our items at ACE Hardware and Tractor Supply, but feel free to order them on Amazon if you don’t want to hunt them down yourself. We also listed other fence options if you want to try something different,
Garden Fencing (36" x 50 Ft.)
I used 2 50 ft. pieces of fence for easier set up and tear down. In some smaller RV sites, just using one 50 ft. fence may be adequate. This fence is only 3 feet high, but works perfectly for our small dogs. See the fence below if you think a 4 ft. tall fence would serve you better.
Chicken Wire Fencing Mesh (16.9 inch X 32.8 Ft.)
We used this fencing option to put under the rv to keep to complete the fence, leaving no room for our dogs to sneak out under the RV.
36" x 50 Ft. Garden Fencing
These posts work great! In normal circumstances you can push these in the ground with your foot. This fence post works with 3ft and 4ft. fences.
36" x 50 Ft. Garden Fencing
I used garden stakes for the small, chicken wire fence under the RV. You can interweave the stakes through the fencing, or secure the stakes to fence using the Flexible Wire Ties
48" x 50 Ft. Garden Fencing
This fence is 4 foot tall in case you need something higher then 3 ft. The fence poles that I used will also work for a 4 ft. fences.
Medium Duty Tent Stakes
I spaced my fence poles out about every 10 ft. I pinned the fence to the ground between the fence posts using these tent stakes to keep my dogs from trying to sneak under fence. These stakes have some meat behind them and keep the fence in the ground; the cheaper, skinny stakes will often pop out of the ground because they don’t have enough meat to keep them in the ground.
Flexible Wire Tie
The fence posts come with clips to hold the fence in, but I used some wire ties in places I thought could use some reinforcement. I used this roll of wire so I could cut each piece to the length of my choosing.
